Welcome to Out on the Border! This website offers glimpses into my adventures from a variety of angles. It is organized into these categories:

• Nitty Gritty: Practical advice, including trail data and packing tips.
• Moments: Photos, reflections, and essays from my trips.
• Pitch In: Ways to contribute to the awesome trails and places we love.

In the Trails & Travels section, I list my favorite adventures, including:

• Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area: THE BEST PLACE EVER.
• Oregon Coast Trail: The 367-mile route tracing the coastline of Oregon on beach, trail, and, occasionally, Highway 101. I completed this trek in spring 2017.
• Salkantay Trek, Peru: An approximately 74-kilometer (46 mile) trek from Cusco to Machu Picchu. I completed this hike in 2011.
